By choosing superior quality fabrics and products, you will be primarily concerned with your health and that of your customers. In the textile industry, for example, harmful substances are sometimes used to obtain a fabric with a softer and more pleasant feel, to achieve certain colors, or to obtain characteristics such as water repellency.
Taking PFCs as an example, these substances act as a chemical liquid repellent. Despite their harmful consequences, they are sometimes used in food, sportswear, and upholstery fabrics. However, various organizations, such as Greenpeace, have already investigated and proven that PFCs are dangerous for humans and the environment.
On the one hand, when our body is in continuous contact with these substances, it absorbs them and cannot eliminate them completely, which can lead to the onset of various diseases. Some possible complications include difficulty getting pregnant and the buildup of these chemicals in the kidneys, liver, and blood.
On the other hand, they are also harmful to the environment. PFCs have been found in wild animals such as dolphins and polar bears. These compounds spread easily through river and ocean water and, due to their slow biodegradation, remain in the environment for generations.
Our message is about advising you to buy products of higher quality and durability. This will benefit your health and the environment, and reduce the number of times you have to replace materials because they have deteriorated.
Our contribution
All the fabrics we sell are produced in the European Union and meet the most stringent requirements for environmental standards and the protection of users’ health.
In the case of the AquaClean brand, recognized for its highly resistant and easy-to-clean fabrics, no PFCs are used in the production of the fabrics in our collections. Through recent technological advances, it has been possible to obtain a practical, resistant and safe product, while maintaining the impermeability of the fabrics.
